Keeping with the theme of Relaxation August, I’ve been trying to spend more time at home kicking back and taking it easy.  This is no easy task for me as I’m not particularly good at just chilling out, I always feel like I should be doing something more productive.

Today’s outfit is for those days when you just want to be super comfortable, hang out and possibly nap on the couch.  This is my tracksuit alternative.

crown Daily Outfit Miss Burlesque Australia in Melbourne

It has been such a huge weekend here, and it began for me on Friday with the Victorian heat of Miss Burlesque Australia where I was privileged to be a part of the judging panel. It was a night to see some of the up and coming Burlesque performers of Victoria work their shimmy and vie for the crown of Miss Burlesque Australia.

I did take a few photos at the event, (not many though as I was pretty busy), but I shot them on my new secret camera. I’m saving them to reveal all those details at the same time.

Given that I was there to specifically assess the entrants based on their styling criteria (amongst other things), it was only fitting that I wore something rather special myself. The evening’s gown is a 1930’s bias cut velvet gown, courtesy of Circa Vintage Clothing here in Melbourne.

I just adore this dress. I’ve been fortunate enough to model it a few times for different parades so I already knew that it fit like a glove. So much so that I’m planning to take a pattern from it and have it made up in several shades… too divine not to!

1950s vintage tartan wiggle dress Daily Outfit Vintage Tartan

Today was High Tea day and the very first High Tea I’ve ever taken Miss 6 to.  It was cold, wet, dark and windy; so the outfits needed to be warm and chic to fight off the urge to stay home under a blanket.  Miss 6 wore a little red pinafore with scottie dogs on it in keeping with the tartan / Scottish theme.  I also realised while I was taking these photos that the dress matches Mr SKM’s kilt so you just know I’ll be doing a kitschy family outing soon!

Don’t you just love that ‘new dress’ feeling? This is my latest cracking vintage find, a 1950’s Italian vintage dress that is part secretary part sex kitten. WIN!

It has all the things I love about a great 50s winter dress. Great tailoring, beautiful quality wool, rear zip (no messed up hair), just past elbow length sleeves and making a very classic style just a little bit sexy.

Candice DeVille and Bro Outfits and Update

Hitting the town with my Bro.

Outfits -  Vintage and custom made .. Style – Entirely our own!

Happy snap courtesy of Miss almost Three!

.

Morning all! Well you may be wondering what has happened to the usually clock work style posting on the blog here. It is a case of everything coming at once in the last week or so, and sometimes being thwarted despite my best efforts. So many amazing winter events, parties and festivals! Last week I was somewhat engaged with big birthday activities as Miss 5 become Miss 6! So in a haze of Sailor moon madness, we opened our home to a hail of squealing six year old girls in order to give them a good time and an ice cream induced coma.

In amongst all of this I am attempting to change over my systems from PC to MAC, which is proving to be far more work than I thought, and having to spend late nights on Google trying to figure out how to do things and re-train my PC brain. I’m still not quite there and it seems that my bodies electromagnetic field is causing my brand new MAC to lock up every half and hour! (Well that is what it seems like to me anyway). So while all this is happening, I’m cobbling together my posts on various other PC’s, iPhones, ipads etc.. etc..!

Anyway, while I’ve had some good ‘at home’ time to try and get all these things working, I’ve been hanging out in some of my more casual outfits.  This dress you’ll remember is the one and only hang over from my last pregnancy, but I had to keep it as I love the colours so much.  Pairing it with some seriously Smurfy tights and kick arse shoes, means that I can get away with such a wild print and billowy top half.  The 70’s vibe of this one calls for a different style of handbag to my usual framed 50’s ones, and this little blue one has a great vintage feel.

It comes from a great little blog shop, Electric Love Letter, who have all manner of gorgeous garments and some great reproduction retro bags.  I got this one way back before Easter time, and although I’ve been using it heaps, I hadn’t yet photographed it for you until now. The somewhat funny ( or sad thing depending on how you look at it) is I can remember the first time these bags were in fashion!
