Daily Outfit – Kinda Gidget Style 1960′s casual

Daily Outfit White Capris and pigtails 60s cuteness 3 web Daily Outfit Kinda Gidget Style 1960s casual

Warm days and errands equal yet another opportunity for cutesy chic in my mind. That and the one pair of jeans I own, (bought on a dare from a reader) can’t possibly go to waste. So like all items that sit incongruously in my wardrobe, I’m all about styling them up to make them more me. Today it was the pigtails and bouffant with strong cats eyes and my trusty wedge heels.

The 1960′s vintage style hair is super simple and I did a tutorial for it not long ago. It’s one way to pull off pigtails when your over twenty anyway!

  4. So wonderfully charming and pretty! I’ve always adored the look of denim and wedge heels together. Toss in a crisp white blouse like this and you have all the hallmarks of a timelessly pretty outfit any day of the week.

Jessica: Wedges are my weakness. I’m yet to count how many I have but it must be around 15!

  5. I do like that shirt, very pretty neckline, but what are boyfriend jeans ???

Jaede: “Boyfriend jeans” is one of those type of cuts like “boot cut”. They tend to sit just on the waist (belly button)and have a wider leg. I don’t know how they’d actually look on a boy though?!

What gets me about you all is that younger generations think they know and get the earlier generations right.
I am appalled at the fashions you label 50′s or 60′s because in REALITY how you think to depict such era’s of fashion is NOT how people – women in particular, dressed at all. You get is so wrong.
    I should know.

Krista: You assume in your comment that I am, in these styles, trying to accurately emulate a particular era’s look; which is in fact not the case. A look such as this is referencing elements of fashion styles from various era, social demographics and trends then mixing that to create something unique. As you’ll see from the tag line, the intention is about interpretation for the 21st century.
It’s clear you’re not a regular reader or (I would hope) you’d have a better understanding of the intention of this blog. I will say that I do resent being lumped into a category of “you all”, as it happens there are huge variances between accurate historical portrayals of fashion and the modern day interpretations that draw on history for inspiration.
The labels on the blog here of 50′ or 60′s, are so for ease of search terms and because of elements of each of the looks, including the original dates of some of the pieces included in each look. NOT because they are specific reproduction looks.
I am very aware of how (and why) people dressed during the twentieth century and have made serious study of the subject on an international scale. However, this blog is not a reference for archive looks nor does it intend to be. If you’d like to present an informative piece on the nuances of your own fashion experience, you’re welcome to email me for the opportunity to guest post here.

  7. Wow! You’ve made it all work. YOU look GORGEOUS! I found your site via a Fashion Binge link – and I’m so glad I did. You’ve completely inspired me with your scrumptious-looking self!
