Visiting Melbourne Zoo for a Meerkat fix.

Melbourne Zoo Visit Nov 2012 Meerkat Visiting Melbourne Zoo for a Meerkat fix.

I can’t help it, I’m mad for these little guys. When Mr SKM offered to take us all for a day at the Melbourne Zoo on Saturday we knew what our first stop would be! The weather at the moment is perfect to see them out and about doing there Meerkat thing, digging around, playing and looking suspiciously at planes overhead.

The last time we went to the zoo, it was super hot and lots of the animals were asleep. This time however, they were all out to play and gave me some great chances to film and photograph them.

If you plan on visiting Melbourne, make a day at the Zoo high on your list. I’m not just talking about a family day out, but even as a solo event, this is one special place. Pack some snacks, a great fun playlist, your video camera and camera and a bit of money for the gift shop ’cause you’re going to want to take one home!

I’ve made you another one of my silly videos, because if you’ve never been to the Melbourne Zoo, or perhaps never to a Zoo at all, this gives you a great window into just how fantastic a place it is.

Enjoy!

  1. Aww! Would you just look at them and their adorable cuteness! I’ve never been to Melbourne zoo, but I will take note for next time. I visited Taronga again earlier this year and it was wonderful. It really never disappoints, just gets better every visit. If you visit, then the sea leopard is one not to miss. It’s the only sea leopard on display in the world and it is such an incredible animal! xo

Loved the vid clip and I realy enjoy Meerkats too!!

  3. Oh my goodness ! Could the Meerkats be any cuter !!! I haven’t been to a zoo for years. I must get to San Diego Zoo cause they have PANDAS !!!!!!

  4. Meerkats are the best! I have a South African friend whose mother had a permit to keep meerkats as pets before they moved out here. They sounded like a hoot – stealing giant apples out of the fruit bowl and running away with them, biting chunks of fur out of the cat’s tail, and being generally cheeky (and possessive of one person).
