One of my beautiful vintage brides, shot by Finessence behind my salon.

Yep, it’s one great big mouthful of a job but I’m very excited to announce that I *finally* have an actual real, bricks and mortar home for all my vintage styling! With all the travelling around I’ve been doing, I’ve come to appreciate the simple beauty of just having one small space to invite you into where we can play vintage glam transformations to our hearts content. It’s funny how things work out and this development has been more than 6 years in the making. Of all the places in Melbourne where I could have set up, it turns out that the perfect place was waiting for me in the historic shopping district of Mailing Road in Canterbury. With it’s cobblestones, heritage architecture and simply divine little boutiques; it’s the perfect spot to find vintage appeal.

While I still need to get my act together and take a bunch of pics of the area, I have something else to show you that I think is just the bees knees. You already know the work I do with Helen McLean, but did you know I also work with the two most gorgeous portrait photographers at Finessence? Alan and Karen are a beautiful husband and wife team who, along with their darling baby, have a glamorous studio only two doors down from my salon! In a stroke of serendipity we meet a few years ago at Fashion Week where Alan photographed me, and although I didn’t know it yet, we’ve ended up becoming colleagues and friends.

It is with Finessence that another project came about as we wanted to create high end, vintage glamour photography for special occasions, portraits and of course, weddings. So with the help of some gorgeous friends of mine and some obliging couples who’s weddings we’ve worked on; we have this wonderful eye candy to show off!

Of course, this is only but a small sample of all the pieces we’ve been working on, but it gives you an idea of just what it is we do. Some of our clients come to us with ideas in mind or, (as in the case of these shots) all the concepts, hair, makeup, wardrobe and styling is done by me! The wardrobe in these images comes both from my own extensive personal collection as well as from my good friends over at Circa Vintage in Melbourne.

For those of you in Australia the good news is that you can now come into the salon and have a cup of tea to chat red lipstick, hollywood glam hair and fabulous frocks with me. And for all of you overseas, the good news is that there will be even more tantalising images to inspire you for your vintage wedding, your retro dreams and day to day stories of happenings in my world of vintage glamour. And to celebrate the official launch of our Vintage Vogue Portraits, Finessence and I have a special offer for you! You don’t have to live in Melbourne for this, but so long as you can be here to take advantage of it, it can be yours!
