Today’s outfit draws on some very diverse inspirations. When I first got this red top and blue skirt ensemble from Bernie Dexter, it has obvious cues to style it up in either a military or nautical fashion. The high waist skirt, the gold button trim, the navy and blue combinations; all of these have the classic hallmarks of the cute pinup style I know and love. But when something comes with such a strong personality the challenge for me to shake it up and give it my own personal style stamp is just too much to resist.
Taking a cue from Dolce & Gabbana’s campaign featuring Madonna, as well as a good dose of 1960′s Mod style, all combined with my signature twist on cute vintage chic; I came up with this ensemble that ticked all the right boxes for me.

Are you wearing heels Candice? That cannot be good for your toe. However a truly great outfit.

Lisa: Yes, I am… but the outfit was from late last week (it takes time to get photos finished and up), just before I broke the toe.
A-ha! I recognised that ally location straight away! That’s my hood – Williamstown. Bless that little walkway and the free parking spaces behind it.
Lydia: I love the stone in that walkway.
I love: the sunglasses, scarf, and hair; such glamorous touches. Well I love the outfit too, very pinup. So cute!

Gorgeous! And funnily enough, even with the middie skirt-line, it actually makes you look super tall! How awesome is that! “Long, cool woman in a ‘blue’ dress…”
Luvluv,
Shann
Shann: Ahh that’s because it is sitting *above* my natural waist line and the vertical straps draw the eye up. Illusions, illusions… I’m only 5 foot 4 inches tall!
I love your hair, how did you do the bang?
Meagan: Thanks! It’s rolled and pinned. Takes a bit of practice, but I’ll have a tutorial for you shortly.
you look like mario!
Just wanted to say that I love your site and read your posts regularly..and I fell in love with your shoes…not sure to be able to find them here in the States…snif…
Nathalie: Hi there! Thanks so much for coming out to comment… it has shown me your beautiful Tumblr filled with exactly the kind of stunning modern woman I so admire! About the shoes; no I doubt you’ll find them, they were a chance find. However, with all the new wedges with intricate heel cut outs starting to appear on the market, you may be able to find something similar. You’ve won a new fan of your blog too.
xx
Thank you very much Candice for your kind answer and for the nice compliment about my blog…(blushing…lol)…Too sad for the shoes but as you said, it’s a trend recently and I might be lucky and find some as pretty…
