Dita Von Teese in David Jones Melbourne to launch her collection Muse 2 Dita Von Teese launches her new fashion label Muse!

Friday morning I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Dita up close and personal at the global launch of her new vintage inspired fashion label Muse. Taking inspiration from her much loved wardrobe of 1940′s fashion, Dita has created a simple and elegant line of garments built on couture principles. Each garment is constructed using high quality fabrics, in built corsetry for support and structure as well as those vintage details that those of us so familiar with the nuances of these garments, will applaud. Grosgrain hemming tape and internal waist tape are just two of the immaculate details Dita has included in her creations.

Understanding her fan base has meant Dita created a collection that will both appeal to, and fit, her legion of glamour girls in training. With sizes ranging from 8-20, much thought has been applied in creating these garments that fit, flatter and will remain elegant wardrobe staples for years to come. Each piece has been carefully chosen to compliment the life of a modern women seeking to inject the simple chic of a vintage garment without wanting to appear too retro. From the gorgeous draped, one shouldered formal wear dress to the must have trench coat, this collection is the perfect capsule wardrobe for a woman of style and grace.

OMG I love the dress she is wearing!!!

  2. Sarah says:

Great post Candace, I got quite a thrill seeing you in some of the other news footage from that day. Thank you for putting the subtitles in! (shame they didn’t provide a microphone)
Though I don’t want to be too negative, I am really disappointed in the mishap about release dates. Originally it was November, and only Friday did they turn around and reveal that we were going to have to wait till Feb/March! Friday morning I spent 30 minutes on the phone with David Jones before they could give me a straight answer, most staff didn’t even know what the Dita range was!
Also, I can’t help but gasp at the prices, $600-900! “COMPLETELY affordable!” You’ve got to be kidding… I understand they will be extremely high quality, but that is certainly not available to “every woman”.
Still, you looked lovely and I enjoyed metaphorically being there through your blog
    Love x

  3. kirsty says:

I have to agree with Sarah above, regarding the “completely affordable” price range of $600-900.
I imagine very few of Dita’s fans could afford to spend that amount of money on a dress, though like Sarah I do understand that a lot of work goes into producing such a dress.
I was hoping they would be around the $300 mark so I coiuld save up and splurge on one of the fabulous dresses, but this price range is completely out of my reach.
Thankyou Candice for letting us mere mortals see the footage – you did a great job – I am quite envious of you :)

  4. kittybaroque says:

LOVE like you wouldn’t believe but they’re just out of reach financially – although O get that you do have to pay for quality. I’d buy either the trench or the dress Dita was wearing. What a FUN time you Gals had! I was at work nearby a d wished I could have gone. Dita looked amazing!!

  5. Emma says:

I love the dress that Dita is wearing. The collection is a little out of my price range though!
I also love your red dress. Where did u get it? I would like to get one myself or is it a one of vintage piece? x

  6. Magnolia says:

That’s funny i did a double take on the price and had to replay it as i heard $600 and completly affordable in the same sentence!

  7. Rachel says:

Wow, the price range makes me want to cry. I was going to buy a few pieces, but now I’m not so sure I’ll get anything! Then again, I have few extra months to save now! My fave is definitely the dress Dita is wearing.

great photos though, she is flawless. I’m very jealous!! <3

  8. coffeeaddict says:

    Wow! I love Dita’s style :-)
As always you all look smashing, love the outfits and the hair but most of all the posture and the way you ladies carry yourself.
We live in an era where any feminine composure is shunned, even stigmatized. Mostly due to the misconception of what feminism is all about.
I love your blog because you continually shove us how empowering it is to stick to your guns, do what makes you happy. And looking good and dressing nice isn’t about conforming to the sexists, chauvinistic norms, it’s about rising above them.

  9. Miss Meadows says:

FEBRUARY?!!! Oh lord!!!…Lucky are the Australians…Oh well. I guess that leaves me time to save up for that/those dresses – and the coat. I guess they wont be too cheap. Just hope the smallest size fits me. Big girls complain about not being skinny, but being being very petite isn’t always fun either – at least when it comes to worrying about the fit of THESE dresses!!! :)

  10. Susan C says:

Great post by coffeeaddict! I couldn’t agree more. Look around anywhere, most women and girls are schlepping around in jeans and grey hoodies. Then when they go to the races or a nightclub, they still miss the mark because they think that glamour means wearing everything too short and too tight and it looks tarty and too try-hard. If only more women put more effort into grooming and dressing well and developing their own style, it makes everyone’s day. What a shame Dita’s range is so expensive!

  11. OHHH I have been so excited ever since this range was announced. It is awfully expensive though, I shall be saving.

If you ever get a chance, could you to do a tutorial on how to achieve Dita’s hairstyle? It is so gorgeous and actually looks achievable.

  12. [...] I had the opportunity to go and see Dita Von Teese launch her new vintage inspired fashion label, I knew I wanted to wear something pretty but not too over the top. Of course an occasion like that [...]
