When they tell me that fashion is about to experience a return to the 70′s moment, I don’t start thinking Hippies and long straight hair. I don’t think boho or flower child. Instead my mind turns straight away to Joan Collins and her uber glam, big haired version of everything. With her oversized glasses, liberal use of fur, slink and glitz, I’m always drawn to the way her 70′s look appears like she’s just about to take the Monte Carlo tables for a few million.
When I got up yesterday morning, I hadn’t planned to create an outfit resembling anything close to a 1970′s look. I’d spent the previous day working on a new pattern for some winter suit pants and was keen to try them out. So I pulled them on and added a few bits and pieces to compensate for the cool weather. Then, as I started to curl my newly shortened hair, I realised that the look was morphing quite distinctly towards 70′s casual glam. So I just went with it and this is what happened.
