Summer in Australia has been so chilly this year that I began planning for autumn well in advance. One of my favourite purchases that has been sitting lonely on the shelf for a few months, awaiting it’s first seasonal outing, is this pretty top by Greetz From Tiz. I have some of the most marvellous vintage knitting patterns here at home, but the big problem is that I don’t knit. Well not really. I can make a rather wobbly scarf but that is the extent of my wooly skills. So I was chuffed indeed to find this lass in Italy who makes a selection of wonderful reproduction knitwear sold on Etsy.

I wanted something particularly bright and pretty this public holiday Monday, as the family and I headed off to Geelong to visit my elderly grandmother and grandfather. We don’t get to see them all too often, but these are the people who sparked my love for vintage as a child. Nana always has a story to tell, and loves to reminisce with me about that days hair do. Today was no different, as we chatted for quite some time on the merits of snoods and just how they used to be worn.

You’ll be pleased to know that this hair style takes about 2 minutes to achieve once you get the hang of it, and I’m working on a tutorial for it right now!

Rusty Hoe: It’s the one colour I couldn’t live without.
My husband keeps threatening to stop me buying red shoes in particular. I have about 8 pairs now. Plus I even went all out and made my own pair of glittery red Dorothy shoes http://bobisdysautonomia.blogspot.com/2010/06/fabulous-friday-glitter-dreams-dorothy.html
I’m sure it’s a sickness.

Helen F: Thank you!
love your pants!!
btw have you changed the color of the streak in your hair?? it looks different…still cute though!!
Kelly: I changed it to a candy floss pink for Valentines Day, so it has now faded to Champagne pink. Back to white again soon though, you’re one of the very few to notice eagle eyes!.
So adorable. I always like it when you do a styling with pants and these are awesome, as well as the ‘gangster’ shoes.
Your lipstick/stain has been applied with such surgical precision I am in awe.

I’m knitting this sweater right now! (Only in green). I just purchased a book from Amazon called “A Stitch In Time” that has repro patterns from the 20′s-50′s and this is one of them
Constantly Alice: Yes, that’s the one! I have the book too and am looking for someone locally to knit for me.
SKM – beautiful outfit as usual. Your outfits are inspirational.
You may have already mentioned this on the blog but how do you get such good photos of yourself? Do you take them yourself or get someone else to?
Kirsten: Most of my photos I take myself with a remote control, and quite often just have to hold the camera at arms length. I’ve been doing it for so long I’ve gotten used to what angles I need to use to capture what I want. These shots I had my husband take as we played around with the children in my Grandmother’s backyard.
Thanks SKM: I love your blog and your photos are always gorgeous. I’m very impressed you take most of them yourself!
Love your jumper, wish I could be bothered to knit!
I think we all need a shoe post from you, pretty please. Pics of all your shoes, all lined up ready to be admired!
Carli: If only I could fit them all in one shot! I have terrible troubles with shoe storage, so they are mostly in boxes with photos on the front so I don’t forget what I have. I’d love to have a shoe wall that I could colour block!
I’m entranced by your hair, including the snood.
