Happy New Year’s Eve everyone!! I’m super excited about 2011 for some reason. It has been feeling for the last half of 2010 that things are going to be on the up next year with far less fails and far less dramas. Don’t know why I think this, it’s not like I’ve taken to hanging out with Gypsies on my vacation, it’s just a feeling.
Anyway, I did have big plans for tonight until 24 hours ago. Big plans for someone with two children on a babysitter impossible night, involves hanging at a friends house and watching fireworks and being poked into consciousness at around 6am by said children. Anyway, when that riveting plan went belly up I was a little sulky, knowing all the great things I could have been doing and all the parties my friends are playing at. But really, it is just another night and it is all about what you make of it. So I decided to give myself a good kick in the pants and make my New Years start the right way; with friends, food and shopping!
We all slept in then got fancy before heading off to breakfast as a family. Instead of our usual go-to of Eggs Benedict, I decided to shake it up a bit and find somewhere we could all indulge our culinary cravings, even the kids. So it was off to Box Hill for traditional Chinese breakfast of congee and steamed pork buns! For two small girls you’d think they’d died and gone to heaven such is the reaction to a meal like that. As for me, I am very (very) partial to a tasty congee, so I was grinning from ear to ear.
Then it was off for a spot of indulgent post-Christmas sale shopping and a few treats each, before heading to lunch with fabulous friends. Here is where I’ll let my pictures tell the story…
It is really hot today… 40 degrees celsius, thats 105 for you Northern hemisphere people. That explains the ‘white out’ in this pic. The sun is so strong and bleaching it is hard to look anywhere, especially when it keeps hitting back at you from the pavement.
We went and met up with my long lost buddy Violet ( I say this because we’ve both been working so hard we’ve only seen each other on Twitter these last few months!!)
How amazing is her hair?! She not only styled it herself but did the incredible colour too!
Lunching with other bloggers will always mean one thing…. photos!
Yes, we are both photographing our lunch.
A spot of shopping lead to the following for my afternoons entertainment.
I picked up the ‘new’ (read October issue now imported) of Vivi to read in the shade on this hot afternoon.
Laying around in the near dark with fans going and reading all about cute Korean spring looks.
And I did buy one other little treat to add to my ever growing vanity collection. Not only cute and practical, but exactly what you need in this weather.
Anna Sui blotting paper in the trademark gloss black case! I’ve been collecting this whole series piece by piece and nearly have a full set now. So pretty!
And that’s it… so far. I’m heading off to get started on part two of my day. This is the bit that involves Margaritas, foot massages and movies. Now THAT is how you spend an evening celebrating the year!
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

You can read Korean? Wow!!
Neena: Nah, I can’t read Korean, just love the images… I can read a little Mandarin however.
Love, love, love your dress Ms SKM!
Helen: Thanks! It looks even better close up with little hearts making the polka dot and tattoo styled embroidery on the hem.
Wish I could find another one…
HAPPY New Year to you all! Xxxx
You are beautiful and inspiring to me beyond word. I also adore your friend Violet.
I would love to meet up with other bloggers very much.
Have a wonderful start of 2011 my dear friend.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
You are always so stunning and glamorous that you are my inspiration for the new me in 2011.
Are those very cute earrings a new purchase?
And what brand is your lipstick and nail colour?
Best wishes for a New Year full of love, fun and happiness.
xox
Pinky: Thank you so much! The earrings I bought a while back from Sweet & Co. Actually I bought them as my Christmas present to myself last year. They have a matching ring as well.
The nail colour I don’t know ( my tech put that one on and I can’t remember the brand), but the lipstick is a Raspberry one from Maybelline that they don’t make anymore
I love it and am looking for a new one closest to the shade so I can replace it. I’ll let you know what I come up with.
are you sure the mag is korean, not chinese? my husband is korean, and i can assure you he does not write those characters that i can see on the mag’s cover. anyways, looks a treat!
Nina: Oh no, the mag isn’t in Korean, I was just referring to some of the fashion spreads in there and where the labels were from. It is indeed in Chinese.
Happy New Year gorgeous xoxo

Reading your previous post, I am leaving a comment as I always thought my comment would make no difference.
Anyway, as someone who is coping with the rise in temperature from -2 to +7, I salute the fact you can even get out of bed in 40 degree heat, and look fabulous, because I would die.
My new year’s resolution is to be more organised which will help me be more glamorous because I’ll know where everything is
Hannah: Yay! Hi and thank you.
I’m always resolving to be more organised, especially this year as my last 12 months have gotten things badly out of control… I can’t even work in my office at the moment so overwhelmed by stuff it is!
Hannah, my goal too!
I can’t wait to start this year, I have so much to accomplish and it’s be awesome to see how things pan out
Miz: Every year I say the same thing too… will I ever get better? I used to be hyper organised, then children happened and it kinda fell apart.
I love congee and pork buns too Super K! Heading to Aus next month via Singapore and favourite part is the big breakfast buffet in the hotel with chicken congee. Oh, and seeing all my family in MELBOURNE!! this time Super K, maybe we can link Up?
Lisadom: Hopefully our schedules work out as I’m heading to Thailand and Singapore myself on Jan 24th, but back first week of Feb. Email me and we’ll see if we can make it happen this time.
Sounds like a lovely day! Love Anna Sui’s packaging
Where abouts do you buy your Anna Sui stuff in Melbourne? I didn’t think there was a stockist?!
Allison: There is a great little shop at Boxhill Centro called Why You that has all sorts of imported Japanese cosmetics. They carry Anna Sui, Jill Stewart, Ertude House and all kinds of good things! ^-^
Happiest New Year to you and your family! Looking forward to following you and being inspired for another year!
Bronski: Thanks! I have so many great ideas to put into play, just have to finish cleaning up from 2010 still .:)
Ooooh, Violet’s hair looks so cool! I’ve been trying to master that look recently but alas I don’t think my hair is long enough.
Hope you had a wonderful NYE and all the best for 2011!
Drop stitch: Mine isn’t long enough either but I got some of those $2 plats made of cheap synthetic hair at a discount store and it does a pretty good job!
where on earth did you get that awesome red purse ?
Satya: Isn’t it fantastic?! It fits everything too! I found it at Sintra, a luggage shop that is in most Westfields malls. It even has FEET!
