There has been such an interest in retro lifestyle from mainstream media recently. Just this weekend I was part of a feature in the regular News Ltd Sunday Magazine about those of us who choose to create our own vintage glam worlds. I’ve scanned the pages for you and uploaded them full sized, so if you click the images of each page you should be able to read the article.
Then, just the other week I was invited along into the studio at Radio Eastern to have a bit of a chat to Dee Copsey on her breakfast radio program, all about who I am and what I do. I love chatting at the best of times, but it was such a relaxing interview that I could have gone on forever!
Anyway, most of you will know much of these things about me as regular readers of the blog, but if you feel like an excuse to kick back over a cup of coffee, have a little listen here, but I warn you.. I can talk!

I am so pleased to see a growing interest not only in vintage fashion, but also in people thinking about lifestyles outside of the mainstream. I hope this is only the beginning of people looking for more beautiful and interesting things in life!

*love* the remark about “no underwear”. Sadly true!
A great article SKM! I too love the “no underwear” comment. It is soo true!

A great little read! Makes the point gracefully that we can have the look we want without it signifying we’ve taken on the whole kit-and-caboodle of 50′s life (or other subcultural lifestyles, as the case may be) I hold down a solid job, pay taxes and vote, yet like to have screamingly bright coloured hair, piercings, wear corsets etc.
Oh what a wonderful article on the weekend – loved having alittle read of your words, while reading the newspaper on a Sunday Morning! – and like the above comments, loved, loved, loved the ‘no underwear’ comment, a real laugh out loud moment! x
where i live in sorrento ..they sold out of the sunday paper, so i went on my knees, to find a copy……fantastic…singing and skipping..jo
p.s..i had to go to one of the coffee shops to ask for there copy…
It was through the Sunday magazine article that I found your blog. Now I am addicted!
pia anderson! when i used to work at woolworths i would serve her all the time and i absolutely loved her style, it would make me smile everytime i saw her.
of course, i always felt like a scruff next to her in my woolowrths clothes
How wonderful! I would much rather have our role models look like 50′s housewives than cheap hookers. Glad to see that you and other fab ladies are getting recognized.
Late comment here, I just discovered this blog! The article was interesting but I feel that everyone seemed to forget that wearing stockings and red lipstick doesn’t automatically make a woman incompetent, sensitive and incapable of opening car doors. I love to dress up and I love the ’50′s fashion, but wouldn’t dream of giving up my job or expect my husband to pay for everything. It is possible to look feminine and still be self-reliant.
