It seems that just about every blogger out there has done a “What’s in My Bag” post over the course of time, but not me. I’ve been asked to do this several times, but just keep forgetting to photograph. So when I came across my Holy Grail handbag at Wintersun this year, it was a great excuse to combine showing you this beautiful bag and to illustrate just how amazing it is by showing you what I can fit in it!
The contents of my bag vary slightly depending on the day, but this is what I carry most days. I decided to shoot all this on my Hello Kitty tea tray so that you can see the relative size of each piece as well; and also just for gratuitous use of cute props..
.
.
Top row: iPhone, coin purse, handcream
Bottom row: Mirror, key case, wallet
I’ve made it a point to collect matching silver vintage GloMesh and I love the way it is all coming together. Next on the agenda is a DIY silver mesh iPhone case!
.
Top row: Compact powder, fold up parasol, breath mints, nail glue, eye drops, lace trimmed handkerchief, homeopathic remedy.
Bottom row: Business cards, lip pencil, lipstick, lip gloss, tape measure, comb.
All very important and in the bag every day.
.
Top row: Vintage hand fan, mini video camera that doubles for stills, sunglasses
Bottom row: Gorilla tripod, Cigarette case (for holding all manner of small bit and bobs, like mini sewing kit, earrings I take off and don’t want to loose etc..)
.
So this is rather a lot to be carrying around each day without resorting to a large shoulder bag or the whole ‘schelping’ thing I fear. And this is the reason I took all these shots on the tray, so I could also shoot the handbag that holds it all on the same tray and show you it’s Tardis-like qualities!

1950′s, painted leather, framed handbag with gold detailing and little gold feet!
Best Bag Ever!
And for 20 bonus points it even has a RED interior!
I don’t know if I could love this bag anymore than I already do. I’m treating it to regular conditioning and top shelf placement in the hope of having it last another fifty plus years. Do you have a favorite vintage bag that works with everything and what sort of things do you carry around?

I had a similar vintage bag. It even had the cutest little coin purse attached on a chain (so handy), but the handle ended up breaking
Kathryn: Was it attached to the bag similarly to this one? That what I like about the gold attachments, is that if it breaks I can replace it without too much trouble.
Yes same kind of attachment. I never thought of getting it repaired!
Oh, congratulations on finding the bag! Don’t you love that feeling? I can’t believe how much that holds, while still looking very compact. It also looks like you can easily reach inside and find what you need, which is great. So many frame bags are black holes for lipsticks and keys!
Lisa: Yes, it is amazing. I can actually find everything and it stay exactly where I put it. It is a little bit of a Tetris puzzle to get it in, but if I stick to the system it works.
Woo thats a really awesome bag! I’m not sure if you noticed the one I had with me on Saturday – it’s similar black with gold detailing and fits quite a bit – it’s definitely my go-to bag at the moment
Esz: Oh no I didn’t! It was such a whirlwind on Saturday. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to say a proper hello before I had to dash. See you at the next event?
A really gorgeous bag, you forget to merntion the scarf which i also beautifull, do you use it often when you on your way out, around your head for example.
greetings,
Iris
I love Glomesh! The vintage stuff…not the crappy replicas that are out at the moment…they make me sad. My current wallet is a big gold Glomesh one that I love. The ends are starting to fall apart a bit but I’m using it until it dies!
I can’t believe how much you’ve fit into that bag. It looks tiny but wow, it holds a lot. Lucky you for finding the perfect bag…and that it’s also vintage!
That tape measure holder is super pretty (and practical to – bonus!) Is it vintage or do you buy them somewhere, if you don’t mind me asking?
Miss Emmi: I found this fancy one at Cristina Rea stationery store, but you can also get similar versions at Lincraft for about $5.
That is one impressive handbag! Love all the vintage glomesh.
The company that make your handcream (premium spa) also do the most amazing salt scrubs. They’ve got essential oils in them so once the exfoliation is done your skin is left super moisturised. I’ve gone through one jar already and am onto the next which is unheard of for me as I rarely re-purchase the same beauty products twice.
Maybe I should try the handcream out!
Paula: The handcream smells divine, it has orange in it and smells like the inside of an expensive day spa. ^-^
Not only is that amazing that bag holds all that but I am LOVING the idea of a vintage cigarette case for a sewing kit & earrings you remove, what a fabulous idea! I love old cigarette cases but always think why would I have one, now I have a reason, good thinking lady!
Fiona: “Tune in to SKM Daily. It’s all genius, all the time.”
Except when I’m not! LOL
What beautiful things you have in your bag!!! I’ve wanting to revamp the contents of my bag because when I was little my grandma always had the prettiest cases for things in her purse. I love your use for the cigarette case! I see them all the time and always think they have such pretty designs, but never really knew what purpose they would serve me since I don’t smoke. You definitely made the lightbulb click on for me. It would be great to have something to contain all the loose bobby pins, safety pins, and such that are constantly floating around loose in my purse.
Dott: Oh thank you! My Nana always took a hanky with her becuase you’ll never know when you need those, so I figure to always go for the prettier versions of necessities. This cigarette case is a bit deeper than many I have seen before which I why I choose it. It is just perfect for all kinds of things especially when a button pops off or something like that!
It’s the tetris like fiddling to get it all to fit while still having the most used items on top that gets me. I have a massive Jag leather wallet that I love to death but it fails when it comes to fitting nicely all in my Dr style bag, quite similar to yours but with silver details. The wallet has to fit just so or the clasp just won’t cope, the poor thing.
Loving the sci-fi reference
I can’t believe you lug around that much on a daily basis. I’m sure you must get a lopsided shoulder! That is one cute bag though.
Wild Tea Party: It isn’t that heavy actually, but when I have a bigger bag it is worse and I do get shoulder problems, hence the scaling down in size of everything.
And yes, I am actually a big Sci-Fi geek over here
Wow I am impressed that you can get that all in there, I am terrible, I can never get everything into mine, and I often end up with 2 bags… I should leave the laptop home more often then I do.
<3 the Doctor Who reference and the bag = )
