Today’s red lippie is an old favorite, but one that no-one seems to have heard of. It’s by Boots No.7 and called Moulin Rouge. That’s a pretty great promise right there in that name I think. I found this one in a moment of panic when I realised I’d left the house without a single lipstick in my bag and had a meeting in a half hour. So I raced into the chemist and picked this one out in a hurry as a stop gap. Since then it has gone on to become a favorite both for colour, texture and wear.
.
I’m wearing it here with a fantastic cheap lipliner in red “Savvy by DB” available at Priceline for about $5.
But there is a problem with this one though… I can’t find it anymore!! So I don’t know how helpful this recommendation will be for you, but if any of you know of secret stashes of this one, or your local chemist still has it in stock, I suggest buying them out and sending me a spare if you can. It has brilliant coverage and a velvety texture that stays that way all day.
In hindsight, this may not be the best recommendation given the scarcity of this lipstick’s availability, but if any of you have tried the new Boots No. 7 reds, I’d love to hear about them here.

I understand the heartbreak of finding out your favourite red lippy is no longer. I was addicted to Lancome “Rouge Vibration”, but its very difficult to find now.
However, I have found a wonderful replacement; I’m in love with retrofuturist by Limecrime.

Hi Mama! just wanted to let you know that a pretty close color to the boots No.7 is rimmel londons lipstick in the color temptation. Its great color and creamy moistureising texture make it a favorite of mine to wear for long periods. BTW I love your BLog!
I am quite surprised that they sell (or sold!) Boots No. 7 over here in Australia actually, because it is a UK chemist chain store product (Boots is on almost every street corner in the UK – and their No. 7 range is their standard in-house product line – I agree it is very good). Perhaps that particular chemist got it as a once off? If anyone wants to chase it up, you have to either go to the UK or do some serious googling for online availability! Good luck!
I’ve picked up Boots No. 7 products in NZ as well. It’s possibly not as uncommon as you think here in the colonies
Maria: I saw that they sell it in Singapore too, so it seems to be quite popular worldwide. I wonder if and when Australia will bring out the ranges?
Actually, I’ve noticed that a few Chemist Warehouse is stocking some Boots products lately…maybe they’ll bring the make up over too? It was one of my favs while over in the UK, so cheap and easy to get. Le sigh!
i love your blog!
Boots No. 7 is available in the United States now. We have it at our local Target store. I was surprised to see it as I had just come back from London. I will investigate to see what reds they offer.
Try ebay…you never know!!
No7 is great and as one poster has already mentioned is a routine brand in our chemists in the UK. Not sure whether Moulin Rouge is still available but I can also recommend number 80 called Cherry which is in their stay perfect range-it’s a matt lipstick and perfect consistency!
this is a lovely shade! Good luck

Not sure if you have them in Melbourne but the former Ice Accessories (now GLOSS) in Perth had some No. 7 makeup last week… next time I’m there I’ll have to check out the lipsticks, as you know I’m all about finding a perfect red lately!!
Saw it on ebay!

I hate when a good red gets discontinued!
They had boots everywhere in Thailand! I never looked at their lipsticks though. This is really nice colour but I can’t really say that I’ve seen boots anywhere in Australia.
I live in the UK, so I’ll have a look. But the thing with No 7 is they’re primarily a fashion brand (so they don’t stock lines for a very long time).
This shade isn’t available in the current range in Boots shop. : (
Hi,
All of the Boots No7 products are available at drugstore.com… I’m not sure about shipping to Australia though.
That shade is pretty! I’m not sure I’ll ever find that in my city, though.
Meream: I know.. I can’t even find it myself anymore. Since I blogged it, all the ones of eBay sold out.
As tu essayé le rouge baisé.

Nice looking!
