I simply could resist the title, as cheesy as it is! With the upcoming winter on everyone’s mind’s here, the Great Boot Hunt begins. Every mag you pick up has list and list of what’s hot and what’s not in the world of boots, but none of these were really working for me.
I knew what I wanted but, like always, knew it would be a difficult find. I spent ages trawling the various online boot sources, but nothing really got my full attention. It wasn’t until I popped out to the local mall to come back with groceries that I spied these and had to try them on.
They were almost perfect and met all bar one of my criteria. They are over the knee, but not too restrictive, and they have great (removable) buckle detail that gives them a slightly military feel. They have a fantastic heel that is stable enough to spend the whole day in without drama, and they fit nicely around my calves. I have a high instep so it is often difficult to find boots with the right style of opening that means I can actually get them on, and the side opening zip that comes right down to the instep works perfectly. The only con for me on these is that they aren’t leather. I would have been happy to pay much more for these if they were a top quality, leather pair of boots; but they looked so good I was prepared to forgive that shortcoming.
They are the amazing “Mali” boot by Novo. I haven’t found them listed in their online store sadly, but it seems that they are available in the shop. It may be that they are too big and costly to ship, but either way I’d always recommend trying on boots first. They appeared on the LMFF runway last week too which you’ll see here.
I love their versatility to work with so many different looks and aesthetics, from cute to goth, I’ve been wearing these a lot!

I adore that dress it’s so cute. The boots are amazing too – I’m looking out for a flat pair though that I can wear to death all winter
You look amazing! I have some OTK boots from a few years ago (oooh coz I’m just so fashion forward, haha), might just dust ‘em off and take ‘em out
I love the buckley bit around the knee
Wow booty call indeed! I imagine Mr SKM a very happy guy
oh I just love that dress! What a great outfit.
They are awesome!! I’m always on the lookout for boots – I know what I want too….Low sturdy heel but not too chunky….GREY leather like charcoal colour or a shade lighter….with small details but not too OTT. SO hard to find! There were some nice ones in Zomp last year but i’m not prepared to pay $800 for a pair. Hehe.
Esz: I think Novo also had a lower boot in grey, similar to this one but with a lower heel, coming only to the knee and with minimal fussiness. Have a look.
Hey SKM – I think it’s GREAT that these aren’t leather!!! Don’t think of it as a con. You don’t need animal skin to look fantastic, and these boot prove it.
OMG I Love it!!! The dress is hot and the boots are fab! Hurry up winter!! lol
Boots! Love boots. My favourite boot shop is Duo Boots, in the UK. They sell all their boots with calf widths from 30cm – 50cm, so there is something that will fit nearly everyone perfectly. Their London fitting room is a very cool place to be, it’s full of women squee-ing with delight at boots that fit. And they ship to Australia, too. Get in while the exchange rate is good.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE THIS OUTFIT!! AAAAHHHHHHH!!! HEAD TO TOE I LOVE IT!!
Yum! And they’re a marvelous match for that sassy dress.
Fierce boots! Love the colors and pattern of that dress too.
Great autumn look
hi candice, I’m watching your blog for some time now, thanks to you, I finally found a great way to deal with my long wavy hair. Your boots are great, just wanted to say thanks!
Hi there! Well that is good news- I’m always pleased to hear when these things work for other people. I used to hate my hair growing up in the era of almost no product, but I’ve learnt to work with it and love it now!
Oh I am so going to steal this look.
Those boots are to die for! Damn them not being on the website, I would probably have paid to ship them all the way to Canada!
WOW!!
I hope this doesn’t sound patronising or rude but… I would never have expected to see this dress nor these boots…this whole look, on you. It’s a bit gogo, a bit hippie luxe and you’re 50s pin-up (my summation) but Lady, you are ROCKING this!!
You look SUPER hot. Love it. Love your hair too. Love these photos, love the red of that sofa. Love the boots of course!
I love my otk boots, they had trickled in to the scene a few years back so I knew they would pour in soon. Managed to buy some fabulous leather, suede, black, brown pairs at bargain prices! Bring on winter!
gah, can’t stop obsessing about the non-leather aspect. They must be rilly rilly nice??!!!
Hammie: Rooly Rooly!
Love the whole outfit! I have been wanting over the knee boots for a while, but haven’t found a pair in my budget. The Guess boots I loved were way too pricey. I keep hoping to find something but I haven’t.
[...] Super Kawaii Mama (not a dedicated nail blogger, but a supremo blogger nonetheless), has a booty call. [...]
