I don’t often do short. I’m a little worried about coming off too “hoochie”, but this dress was one I couldn’t resist. It was all about which shoes I paired this with that made it work. The needed a heel, but nothing too high, nothing too slick and nothing too Pretty Woman. My feature heels, (found in Bangkok’s Paragon department store), came to the rescue with cute, solid and fun. But this dress has hidden powers.
Thanks to this fabulous Faux Pas dress by Friends of Couture, I did not get hit by a tram the other day! I also managed to make it through a very crowded event without once being forced to say “excuse me”. Someone even gave me a hand getting my groceries to the car.
MAGIC!

Oh those heels! **little squeal of delight** Another stunning daily SKM
It’s amazing how people treat you differently depending on how you dress. If I wear a dress/skirt and heels, people open the door for me. If I wear a suit and sensible shoes or am in Jeans, those same people seem to ignore me!
There has tobe an interesting sociological study in there. I wonder what is the perfect outfit to ensure maximum ‘chivalry’ without looking like you are inept/skanky/ditzy….
Whew! Traffic stopping indeed. You look fabulously sexy, and note even remotely hoochie. Promise.
Wowza, what hairstyle are you wearing in these photos? I love the twist at the front, it works perfectly with the dress.
you look absolutely amazing in this dress!
Looking fabulous in those heals and stripes !!! I could never wear something that short. Lucky girl xxx
That should read “heels” !!!!
very few people can pull off stripes. you’re lucky!
You look fabulous! I don’t think you could ever look hoochie!
It’s adorable the fabric reminds me of a candy cane and who doesn’t love candy canes?
You look amazing, not hoochie at all!
I’m also awestruck by those heels!
Gorgeous!
That dress is hot hot hot SKM I love it!
I love the detailing on that dress! And the heels…oh my….WANT!
Very fabulous. Well done! You can pull off the short dress with no worries at all.
Sex-ay in stripes!
The dress and shoes look fab but at your age to wear short lengths successfully legs needed to be a bit thinner and perhaps more shapely
YOWZA!! You look fantastic!
…and you are rocking the horizontal stripe. You really look gorgeous! Love the silhouette.
I’m 40 and I still wear thigh-high short dresses and I will continue to do so in my 40s BUT yes, it’s all about the shoes.
~peace~ Dusk
Love this dress, very striking. Your lip colour is excellent also, may I ask the name of it?

Love your outfit, and I smiled when I read the shoes came from Paragon. I love shopping in Bangkok’s malls, and P is one of the best!
I love your shoes…I love Mary Janes specially when they are original

“but at your age to wear short lengths successfully legs needed to be a bit thinner and perhaps more shapely”

Queenblog2009: Whilst I am quite open to receiving critisism, keep in mind that this is my personal blog and not an open forum. Also, as it seems the only time you ever choose to comment is when you have something negative to say I’d appreciate it if you stepped up and gave yourself a little more credibility with a valid identity. You may believe you are somewhat anonymous, but your digital footprint tells me otherwise.
I’m sorry if you think I only comment negatively, but as yours is a fashion blog, which I almost always enjoy reading, as far as fashion goes I am not being rude when I say that your legs are a little chunky and short skirts don’t do them any favours. Knee length looks so much nicer. In some of your outfits you look absolutely stunning. Have a nice day !
A dear friend I talked the other day about how the vintage fashion community is so wonderfully open-minded about varying body shapes. As a general rule it seems we embrace the style and creativity of our peers and not only do we not nit-pick, but it doesn’t actually occur to us that that’s appropriate. We are not a community come together to judge but to celebrate. Don’t let’s become tiresome body snarking fashionista bores?
wow I think you have nice legs SKM and they are shaped just as they should be.
I can’t understand why ppl think that to be fashionable you have to conform to the starved model look.
skinny legs aren’t really very attractive I know I used to have chicken leg and I hated them since I’ve put on weight I am so much happier and find that men are far more appreciative of curves!
