What is your Mr wearing this winter? Not that t-shirt that came free with a case of beer I hope! Some of you already have very stylish other halves, but some of them need all the help they can get. Mr SKM has been very patient with me as I pop him into a kilt at Christmas and smooth him into a pink poppy print shirt for work, but I’m hoping that come this winter he may take up the sartorial challenge and volunteer to shop for himself. So when Friends of Couture told me yesterday that the launch of their Men’s Winter 2010 collection is upon us, I was one mighty pleased lass.
I’m tired of the same old, same old combos that so many of the mass brands churn out, but the other end of the scale doesn’t fit the bill for us either as Mr SKM has never worn a suit and tie in the entire 12 years I’ve known him! So what to do? Well, I’ll be whipping him down to Friends of Couture and sizing him up for some of these chic and comfortable winter style offerings.
The Friends of Couture Men’s 2010 range is all about the relaxed Gentleman.
“Menswear is inspired by classic Gentleman’s Country Weekend styling- Crushed Tweed vests, Thick Duffles with plaid linings, Pea coats, Heavy Flannel Plaid shirts and some soft relaxed basics thrown in for after hours lounging by the fireplace- grandpa long sleeves, soft polos and super luxe woolen cardies…”
I love that they haven’t just thought about the basics of a gentleman’s ensemble, but rather how they want to feel in the clothes. It’s relaxed, it’s comfortable, it carries a vibe of effortless chic. Mind you, the image of relaxing by the fireplace with such a smoky eyed Gentleman doesn’t hurt one bit!
Even though I’d go AOT if I wore shoes like that, I love the styling in this photo and particularly the soft frindged scarf.
..And here is the super excellent part of the news; to celebrate the launch of the Friends of Couture Men’s 2010 collection they are having a three day sale!
So head on over and pick up some swanky new threads for your man.. and while you’re there you can even grab a little something for yourself for all that effort.
Just type in ILOVEJACKETS in the coupon box for 20% off all clothing and accessories.. even women’s!
I wonder if the model is for sale?

Yay SALE! Awesome! I like that jacket in the first photo. Like I have an obsession for buying dresses, my boyfriend has a similar thing for jackets. One day I said to him ” You’re always buying hoodies”….to which he replied “You’re always buying dresses”…..A pause…..He has a point. Teehehee.
Im sorry but i didnt really pay attention to the clothing, just the model’s intense eyes. I think i’m in love
I completely agree…if that model is for sale, I’m totally in!!
Wow, I’m not sure what I like more: the clothing or the model.
*whistles* he is dreamy
Great news
I am loving my purchases I made at their ‘garage sale’ and while I was using their make-shift change room I got a sneak peak at the new stock which was all in box’s in the change area – drool!
Is that model Nick Simmons??? Gene Simmons son??? It sure does look like him. I will have to scout and try and find out.
(and yes, I mean THE Gene Simmons from KISS)
I don’t understand what AOT means… can you translate that into English for the non-blogger-savvy Canadian?
It’s nice to have a Hubby that will let you dress him. Mine’s pretty good about that, but he deems all sweaters to be ‘dippy’. Anything that remotely looks like a sweater fails the dippy test. (sigh)
Fran, it means “ass over tit” or as aussies would say “arse over tit”.
And yes, the model is dreamy
Hehe, I was also wondering that about the model. ;] I don’t have a fella to dress up, unfortunately.

He looks thoroughly disreputable to me, I wouldn’t let him in the house. I say, though, some of the jackets are decent.
Albi: Indeed, I think that must be the appeal. We all know the sad tale of women who love bad men.
I’m very lucky my other half is the shopper in our family, he nromaly picks the pattens and/or the fabric for the clothes i sew, and does most of his own clothes shopping. He has more clothes then me!
If we’re not living in a tropical country, I’d drag the boyfriend to try these stuff. haha
nyaaaaargh. this is pretty much what my girlfriend lives in (except for the skinny jeans, god love her she’s the first dyke i’ve met under the age of 25 who doesn’t wear them) however we are both broke unemployed students (hot) so these clothes will have to wait :/
I love the look! I started to drool when I saw him. I’ll be making sure my man’s hair gets cut like that.
