I’ve been diligently working on improving my casual wardrobe, using what I have and trying to keep this quest in mind when window shopping too. Today’s outfit is based on a new find, this lovely, almost nightgown like top from Angel Sissi. Well actually it is sold as a dress but I prefer not to have quite that much on show, so I’ve paired it with those old staple wide leg pants.
I love the sequin and lace detailing as well as the pleated chiffon sleeves. It is cool enough for a summer’s day, and comfortable enough that you could sleep in it too. I also particularly like that they gave me the earrings free with the dress as well.
Because this outfit was intended as a stay at home, casual type of affair, I’ve gone light on the makeup and kept to soft pink tones with a light gloss lip. I’ve also used a light version of a smokey eye technique to blend with the tone of the top. Yes, there is a tutorial currently coming together for that too.
I’m really loving this tunic top, which is odd as I don’t usually go in for them, reminding me too much of what I had to live with for 9 months of my life twice over! Surprisingly, since I took these photos, I’ve actually worn the top again another three times styling it differently on each occasion. What that means is that it has fallen into that very hard to manage fashion category – the Safe Go To Item! The piece that you pull on when you slept through 45 minutes of your alarm and have ten whole minutes to be out the door. I don’t have many pieces that fit that bill well, but when I find them I’m likely to hang onto them for dear life.

What a cute outfit and the sequins are lovely! You’ve subtly mentioned clothes you were while pg. Do you have any photos? I’m sure lots of other mums would love the inspiration! Loving your posts, Lorri xx
Sorry, I meant to say clothes you wore while pg
Lovely! I’ve actually tried casual today too, going with a lightly faded pair of bell bottom jeans, a purple cotton top and a byooottiful scarf I’m now gonna have to take a picture of on Twitter to show you! Also got pink and white polka dot slip on’s… ok, I’ll take a picture of them too!
I’m working this in a sort of haphazard, grungy way… I need more tips on doing it like you, perfectly presented! lol!
xx
I love that top!! It’s so pretty and I love the unique detail. That’s the sort of thing I’d normally wear, and for similar reasons you’ve mentioned. In fact, I’d buy it right now if I didn’t have these stupidly amped up breastfeeding boobs, lol. I’ll have to keep my eye out for something like that when they deflate…
That outfit is gorgeous! the top is amazing!
Hi SKM!
I was wondering if you’d consider doing a video post on your eye makeup. I really love your eyeliner but find it always ends up much thicker than I want it to be!!

I love the outfit and would really like to see how you re-work the same item into different looks (as you suggested). Any chance you can post some pics on that? Sortof a ’1 item, 4 looks’ deal?
Love the site! I am following it from Toronto Canada. Keep blogging!
Sequins plus lace plus a pretty color. That dress is a keeper, for sure
I’m surprised people actually buy stuff from Angel Sissi. Everytime I go past, there is never anyone inside.
Anon: That is quite possibly why I got such great bargains when I went in
