Welcome to the NEW and IMPROVED Super Kawaii Mama.com everyone!
As you can see there have been some significant changes around here in the last week, and although there are still some sections to come on line, there is lots of new stuff already here to explore. After a good six months of design work, thought, feedback and exploration; I’ve put together what I hope will be an even better blog experience for you here. My aim is not only to give you the best possible content I can but to help you FIND it all! Because Super Kawai Mama is now 2 years old (Happy Birthday blog!) there are well over 500 posts in the archives to search in. That is a hell of a lot of writing, photographs and information to help you out.
As you’ll see there are special gateways to take you into each area of interest (these should all be fully up within the week I’m finishing the code as fast as I can) and all those requests you’ve been making for new posts, information and especially tutorials will be found here. As soon as everything is all completed I’ll give you a proper guided tour and help you to find your way around.
But that is not all. March 2010 is set to be a milestone month for Super Kawaii Mama – why? Well…
Super Kawaii Mama is the first Australian blogger to be invited to design a capsule collection with local Australian fashion label Friends of Couture!
This is just about the most exciting news I could possibly tell you as not only is it a total dream come true to be able to indulge my love of fashion and design, but it means that you’ll have the opportunity to tell me exactly what you want to be wearing and get your hands on a collection of my very own unique style! I’ll have loads more to tell you about this as it all progresses, but suffice to say that if you are here because you love my style, you are going to LOVE this collaboration. The collection itself wont be available until later in the year, but you’ll get to read first hand all about the inspirations, ideas and innovations, as well as being the first to see any sneak peaks!
In the meantime, you don’t want to miss a minute of the action, hear about exclusive news, offers and events; as well as just the general (somewhat offbeat) meanderings of my mind –

Congratulations, Candice! This is very exciting news and I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Hopefully by the time your collection comes out, I’ll be svelte enough to wear it!
YAY! I am unbelievably happy for you that you get to design a collection with such an awesome brand!
My request would be some nice full, knee length skirts – There are so few skirts available these days (that aren’t vintage) that are longer than mid thigh length.
Holy schmoly – that is awesome! Lord knows you have the design and tailoring talent – and the personality to bring it all to life. Great job, SKM.
That is brilliant, congratulations
Fantastic work on the new design for your blog. Congratulations on your new job venture with Friends with Couture, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person/blogger.
Yay, great news! Very exciting!
Congratulations SKM, that is great news! I can’t wait to see your collection. As you are looking for input, some nice A-line skirts would be good (like many women I have a smallish waist and generous hips/thighs so A-line skirts are flattering, and sometimes hard to get in the shops). Also, pussy-bow blouses made of breathable fabric (vintage ones tend to be made of polyester and don’t breathe).
All the best for your new exciting vintage adventure
Maria, Vintage Suburbia xx
OMG you must be over the moon!! That is so great, congratulations! I can’t wait to see what you will come up with
Congratulations on the collection – I have only just discover FoC thanks to your blog so am super excited to hear about your involvement!!!
Love the new design too. Yours is one of my favourite blogs
That’s so exciting, your collaboration with F of C – and I’m especially impressed that you’re doing your own coding on the blog!! Super techie mama, more like!
Hi – congrats!
As a fellow Melbournian, there’s a real shortage of vintage style sweaters and pants on the market – you know, cute cropped cigarette pants and shorter sweaters? Everything is so long at the moment!
Also, I think a good set of basic colours would sell well – too often I find a great style but the tacky print is a turn off.
Best of luck!

That is great! Mega congrats!
It’s really really awesome. And everything is very exciting !!
Love the new look of your website!! Congrats on your new venture!
Totally loving it… and CONGRATS darling. I can’t wait to hear or see the process = )
Fabulous! How lovely for you! It’s a sign of the times that a successful blogger is invited to design a collection of clothes
I love FoC stuff, so I’ll definately be checking your designs out.
I have to agree with those who requested longer length skirts and shorter style sweaters. I also would love it if you could design a blouse or two that is tailored at the waist but generous in the bust region with a vintage feel. I have real trouble finding blouses that fit.
Congratulations! Yay for you, girly girl! <3 Now you have to add designer to your resume

BTW *loving* the new look for your blog, just gorgeous
<3 xxx
Wow!! How exciting!! Friends of Couture make the cutest clothing around as it is, but I can’t wait to see the result once you inject some SKM into it!
This new look is absolutely KAWAII! Congrats on your new look and new opportunities. I will definitely keep following and share in the excitement.
Well Done!
BTW – Fleur over at http://www.diaryofavintagegirl.com posted that both of you are mentioned in the Sunday Times Style UK article:
Blogpost: http://www.diaryofavintagegirl.com/2010/02/catch-up-in-pictures-part-1.html

I just bought a heap of FoC clothes online last week, and then Saturday night a friend comes over for cocktails and I immediately recognise the cardigan she’s wearing as being on of theirs!
1940s style tea dresses in natural fabrics! I’m desperately searching for something that I feel comfortable wearing down the street for simple things like grocery shopping – not too casual but not too dressy.
Fabulous new site, looks great!
Fantastic news, go girl!! Have been a voracious reader of your blog for almost a year now, and have been too shy to comment up till now!
Such a beautiful, inspirational blog, full of ladylike class all the way. Cant wait to see all the new doors open! Most exiting of all is the news you will be designing a fashion line…absolutely cannot wait to see your stylish clothes!!!
Pretty please with a cherry on top, could they possibly go up to a size 16?
Biggest bestest wishes go out to you for your best adventure yet!
FoC ia by far my favourite label on the streets of Melb at the moment! I cannot wait to see what wonderful creations you come up with! ( and get my hands on them too!)
Congrats Mama!
Wow, congratulations! That’s very exciting news!
I’d love to see your signature wide leg high waisted pants in store, but also a slimmer cigarette style.
Like another commenter above, I’d love to see stuff that is appropriate to wear out to casual events – less shiny fabrics please! It’s easy to feel overdressed in vintage, and things like use of natural cottons instead of satin helps a lot.
OH, and vintage style dresses that aren’t too short! It’s heartbreaking trying on a gorgeous, 50s inspired dress in the changeroom and realising it’s so short your garters will be showing.
How exciting. I love Friends of Couture and I can’t wait to see you collection.
xx
get outta town! Vintage inspired, cotton print summer dresses please. I promise I will buy lots.
Thanks for the heads up about the Episode garage sale by the way, I did quite nicely.
That is awesome! You are so cool! I already follow you on Twitter. Can’t wait to read updates!
Looks fabulous – the new site. Also you were in the Style magazine of the Sunday Times yesterday in the UK!!
Congrats!

Love the new website, definitely unique and individual.
As Make Do Style says you got a recommendation from the Sunday Times yesterday for your hair tutorials!
The new design looks great!
Congrats, can’t wait to see what your collection looks life ^^
Congratulations! I’m not surprised since you have an amazing style and this is the perfect outlet for your creativity. Partnering with Friends of Couture is just the beginning. Perhaps footwear next?
Love the new look. Far from pedestrian!
Oh wow, that is such awesome news! Congrats!
I also looove the new look of the blog!
Congratulations! I can’t wait to see your designs.
I adore FoC clothing, but have so much trouble with the sizing.
Just wondering if you can champion those of us who fuller figured in your collection.
Thankyou!
Congrats! You definitely are good enough to be selected. =)
You’re beautiful and I’ve learned a lot from your videos and stuff. Thank you!
