My version of sight seeing in the last few weeks has constitued going to some of my favorite hidden gem stores around Melbourne. While I will list them for you a little down the track, today I thought I’d show you where all that pocket money has disappeard to!
No one item was very expensive, (this is how they trick you into draining the wallet, stealth style) but each one has a brilliant style factor for making something everyday that bit more extradordinary. Beautiful and useful? Of course!
Small bird clip that can be worn anywhere – $6.00
Faux pearl and felt snowflake earrings – FREE with purchase! ( Um yes, I bought a jacket on sale for $65 but it still counts as a bargain!)
I spotted this purple plaid beauty case from the far end of the store and immediately fell in love. I figured it would be around $90 but went in for closer inspection anyway. It is the perfect size for carrying shampoo bottles and hair brushes when travelling, something that I don’t yet have a purpose built bag for, so when I saw it was actually $19.95 I had to have it!
This is actually a blush pot from Missha. I have been looking for a new cool and bright base eye colour but most I liked have been around the $40 mark.
This one however, is twice the size as well as being the perfect shade and was only $8!
I’ve been using it to great effect the last couple of days, so there is a tutorial in the works on how best to use it too.
This was a random find in one of those Chinese bargain stores and at $2 I couldn’t leave it behind.
You may have seen these around before, in fact I’ve been eyeing them off for a while before I finally gave it to the red, shiney, hypnotic surface. Ohhh…
Yes, it is APPLE hand cream from The Face Shop! It is only about $12, but there isn’t a whole lot in there. However this is one package I will use and use when it is empty so I still consider it a good buy. Besides which my hands smell and feel divine!
All that booty and it all came to $48.00 or about a week’s worth of take out coffee. I know which pick me up I prefer!

Ooooh! I’d love to know where you bought the Missha blusher. I have been buying Korean and Hong Kong beauty products on ebay, I’d love to know where I could get them right here in Melb! Can’t wait for your tutorial.
Nice shopping haul overall. I really love that apple handcream packaging too!
Emily Kate: There is a Missha store at Box Hill. I am frequently seen there.
Thankyou! Googling them now…. my parents live near Box Hill, next time I go see them
I’ll pay Missha a visit too!
That birdie clip is just the cutest! I can see him nestled in a hairdo or floating on some pearls.
The apple hand cream is so sweet as well, I love apple as a scent. Can’t wait for you to do a run down of the shops.

You and I must be of a similar mindset. I just did a post about spending little bits of money on a few things. It’s amazing how quickly all of those little, inexpensive things add up together!
Cheers!

That bird clip is adorable. He reminds me a little of these nightingale Christmas ornaments that my Nana has. They are hand-beaded and have long tail feathers and clip onto the branches. My grandfather bought them for her for their first Christmas as a married couple. This year, they will have been married 60 years, so the birds have held up pretty well (although they do have a few missing feathers)
Oh, ever since your nails post I’ve been meaning to tell you – I’m guessing you might already know, but in case you don’t, have you heard of Konad? It’s a… thingy…. that lets you stamp designs onto your nail polish. And as it’s a korean product, many of those designs are either kinda kawaii, or really ott girly.
Love that apple hand cream too!! I also have the lemon one. Not only do they smell divine, but the containers will still be with me long after the product is used up.
Awesome new look to the website. Its cleaner and more sophisticated
And Violet’s drawing is way cute!
On to the goodies – you must tell us where you got them from! I love that purple case it’s so handy! And apple hand cream! Wow
SKM, i LOVE the re-design. Visually it’s a perfect fit for what you seems to embrace and enjoy.
I wouldn’t be able to resist any of your purchases either!
Absolutely love this blog! Beautiful, colourful and practical. I’m a fan!

Love the redesign, such fun!
Those are too darn adorable and I would never have been able to stop myself my buying them as well. haha. Love the new layout!
I have a terrible habit of buying lots of little things, and they certainly do add up! As a lover of Snow White (ok a little obsessive) I LOVE that hand cream! Do you know if they sell them anywhere else? I don’t think we have that store here in Adelaide, though I might be able to ask my boyfriend to have a look as he’s currently based in Melbourne. It’s too gorgeous to pass up!
You’re an inspiration. Your tutorials have been so helpful. I just adore your style! And I’m glad to see you are a fellow Australian!
