I didn’t go out for dinner on Valentines Day. Instead I decided to share the holiday’s theme with one of my furry best friends. Little Lola was due for a bit of a wash and a set so we decided to give her a Valentine’s hair do courtesy of a little food dye! Rest assured, she was completely complient in the act (as much as a dog can be at bath time) as we took all measure of appropriate safety precautions. Using a little Queens Rose Pink food colouring mixed with dog conditioner, I was able to apply it strategically without too much mess. I left it on to soak in for about 8 minutes, then rinsed well and dried off.
A few dog treats and a bow later it was all cuddles from my Pink Doggy Valentine!
Love!

I love that your hair is still oh-so-wonderfully styled during the whole process.
Oh genius! Our doggette, also called Lola, has short (mostly) white hair. If I thickened the dye with something I think I could actually paint designs on her fur with some precision. Wonder what though…. everything funny that I think of (tuxedo, zebra stripes, leopard print) needs black, which would be nigh on impossible.
Have you ever painted your Lola’s toenails? I’ve been dying to paint my Lola’s, as a joke, but can’t work out how to make her sit still for long enough for the polish to dry…
Clare: No, I’ve never painted her nails. I believe you need a special klind of polish for that as dogs are more sensitive than humans. Also my patience only runs so far.
As far as painting patterns, you may have trouble as there is still dripping and it is not a precise technique.
Awh….. that’s all I can say
I would love to know how you did your hair like that? Would you consider doing a tutorial on it please?
I tried your easy summer hair tutorial and your romantic makeup tutorials and they both worked really well – thanks!
Wild Tea Party – Sure! I’ll add it to the list. It is a more intermediate skill level one but with a bit of practice can be done in 10 minutes!
Thanks SKM – that would be wonderful!
I think I’d have to dye my entire pug pink …. but that would be VERY cute.
aaaah. love pugs. love pink. i think my brain just exploded with the cute!
aw, she looks like such a little sweetheart! the picture where you’re holding up the magazine for her to read made me giggle!
dogs are the best kinds of valentines.
xxoo

Awww! She looks like a girl version of my dog, Brodie.
I’m sure he would have told her how lovely her pink hair looked. I might try this with him, although getting him to sit still for long enough might be a challenge. He’s a little ball of energy!
Wow! I never thought to try that. Haha, I doubt my dog would be very happy about it though. She’s a little emotionally fragile!
raaaahahahahahaha…I love the look on her face while the dye sets -in.

That’s the cutest! She looks like she’s pretty happy about the aftermath!
oh how precious!
I simply adore the one of little Lola catching up on her magazine while the dye sets. Quite the little lady of leisure
Omg gorgeous. She looks like my dog Tian, a Lhasa Apso. What breed is your Lola?
Alex: Lola is a Papillion cross Shitzhu, which means lots of hair cuts!

this is so interesting! by the way, visit this page http://petapparelfashion.com and will find everything for your pet! see you there!
How adorable is that furry little face !
Sweet! And reminds me that my dogs desperately need a bath.
The little pet! Doggies always look so tragic when they’re in the bath!
Lola is simply divine!
I’m with WendyB- must give puppy bath now.
Our Dita(think raven-maned beauty) has short hair due to her heritage(boxer-bulldog), but does have a white patch on her decolletage which if coloured, would be quite risque…
How long does the colour last?
Jennifer: I’m not sure how long it will last, but probably until the next wash. I’m yet to see, but it is going strong over a week later at this stage.
Thanks!
I just showed my husband the pics of your little cute dog. He just smiled, he’s a vet.
Your doggie has THE cutest little face!
[...] He snuggles me at night, he is always there when I need him and doesn’t mind when I dress him up in a sailor suit. He is rather furry but that only adds to his charm. Bosco (Eduardo Raul Fernandez to give his full name!) is my 7 year old Maltese cross Shitzu. He is the child I had before I had children, and is just about the most perfect dog you could ask for. He is a brilliant companion, always does what he is told and has never caused me one moment’s trouble, unlike his pink haired companion Lola you all saw for Valentines. [...]
I kinda wish I could do this to my dog but he’s a big golden retriever and the minute he see’s water he bursts into play mode and becomes ‘hulk-strong’! I might have to look at investing in a little companion too!
