On Sunday I cooked.
Not just my usual cooking for necessity that has been the only real activity my kitchen has seen in the last twelve months, but real honest to goodness cooking for fun. I was quite thrilled to be included in an afternoon with some of Melbourne’s fabulous food bloggers, as they took pity on my less than spectacular culinary skills and taught me the secrets of making Dumplings!
Now dumplings may just be my favorite food in the whole entire world. I’ve been known to put plans on hold and drive half way across town for a fix. Now, thanks to the kindness of my new food blogging friends, I can gorge myself on these delights anytime!

What made me laugh was all the compliments I got on my dumpling pleating skills. It seems that as a Fashion blogger in a food bloggers world, I did have something to offer after all!
Expect more delicious delights as this little adventure has whetted my appetite.

Oh I love a good dumpling! They look wonderful
That looks so good!
They look delicious!
You make dumpling wrapping in 35+ heat look glamorous! The rest of us were sweating like crazy…dumplings were delicious though!

They look so yummy! A recipe maybe?
Yum! And they DO look good!
Oh oh oh .. l@.@kie here! Henry on SKM!!
Fantastic shots! Making me hungry already! I have never seen a chef with such a fabulous hair like yours, SKM! I especially love that last photo too. LOVE her cute apron!
Oh man those look delicious! I am going to have to try my hand at those some time. Are they just pan fried?
Talia: Yep, just pan fried with a bit of water and a lid on too to help steam them up.
ELLY” Yay Henry! It was tricky trying to take photos with dumpling fingers so Henry came to our rescue.
Jetsetting Joyce: Oh thank you – mind you I wasn’t brave enough to cycle in that heat! Then again… I haven’t cycled in YEARS!
mmmmmmmmmmm looks so damn good!
AHH!! you’re making me hungry
My mom never makes me home made dumplings/wontons anymore. She says it’s too time consuming. But I loved making it with her. Maybe I should con her into making them with me by buying dumpling wrappers muahahaha!!
Lol that is too funny about the pleating! I just bought some fabrics to make myself a cute apron, in the hope it will encourage me to cook more.
I love dumplings! And that apron is completely cute!
Dumplings are something that I need to get brave enough to try! I love how you get dressed up for cooking. Maybe if I was feeling sexy with a cute apron on, I would enjoy cooking a lot more. Haha.
Sabrina: And here was me thinking I’d dressed down for the occassion! LOL It was such a hot day that I decided on a much more casual version of what I was going to wear, but all it was is just a little silk dress an apron and the simple side hair bun that you will see in my latest hair tutorial.
Brilliant. I thought that was a lovely shot too. And thanks for the apron…. I think I should wear one more often. Let’s do it again soon!
Penny: Indeed we must! They have been such a huge hit here that I’m planning a big dumpling session every other week so I can freeze them and have meals on hand. In fact, I am even going to get a new fridge / freezer to fit all this new found cooking enthusiasm into!
