I’ve been experimenting with different makeup colours and styles this year. Lots of pinks, purples and even a bit of sparkle.  One of the looks you’ve loved and asked for a tutorial on is this one, I call it my Romantic Makeup.

I am wearing lashes in these shots, but I’ve skipped them in the tutorial to keep it simple.

Also, because I didn’t get a good shot of the shadow I was using on camera, here is a detailed shot for you.

I’ve used the middle colour as the main base for this look and the darkest for the contour. I’ve also used a seperate purple shadow in the footage mainly because I’d already used up all the purple in this palette! I love these shadows and they way you can get very different looks by using them as either wet or dry. Hypo allergenic, fragrance free and suitable for contact lense wearers, these are a great inexpensive buy at $19.99 a pop from Priceline.

I’d love to see how this one works for you. Send me a link if you try it for yourself!

Thanks for this tutorial! I’ve been in a brown eye shadow rut for years. I’m going to try this look. What brand of lip gloss is this? Thanks!

  2. Lola says:

I love this look, they eye makeup is so so pretty :)

  3. Violet says:

Cute! It suits you really well! Hahaha I have that same lip gloss but in the pink/purple colour, I use it every day, it’s so awesome!

  4. K-Line says:

Holy cow, you look gorgeous. The makeup is perfect.

  5. Hexotica says:

Ah! This is my favorite color palette! I wear it a bit too often these days. Looks lovely on you.

    • Brook says:

The lashes look great. I always get weirded out about wearing red lips with colored eyes. The girls at MAC always try to get me to try BRIGHT AQUA eyes with my ruby woo… but I stay in the neutrals… this does look good on you though.

      • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Brook: I know what you mean. The only time I mix such incredibly bright eyes like aqua with strong lips are when I’m clubbing, in costume or hanging out with Drag Queen friends! :) The colours I’ve used are so soft, and combine that with the soft of the gloss red lips and it is a much less scary option.
Friend in Fashion: Thank you :)
Hexotica: They really are great aren’t they. I must go out and get a new one. :)
K.Line: Thanks! It is really quite simple too. Easier than attaching a waistband in fact.. ;)

  6. Kawaii Cowboy says:

I read your blog a lot and I love it. Watching you is great too, however it really bugs me that you mispronounce the word Kawaii – it’s “KA-WA-EE” not “ka-why” Anyways, keep up the good work

    • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Kawaii Cowboy: Ahh but you are so right. It is a very bad Australian habit of getting lazy with words we say often, softening them or shortening them. I’ll try to be more particular – after all it is my name! :)

  7. Girl Japan says:

I don’t mind your bad habit… I do the same as well… Love your tutorial!!!

  8. Gabriella says:

Such a soft and feminine look! This has definitely inspired me to try other colours on my eyes. Thanks so much SKM!!

    • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Gabriella: It is so easy to get into a rut of the same colours isn’t it? Give it a go and have some fun. :)
      Girl Japan: :) <3

  9. ASHLEY says:

Is this on Youtube? I’d like to ‘favorite’ it. You really do SUCH a beautiful job w/ your overall look.

  10. Maria says:

Dear SKM, what type of photo camera do you use? I love all these beautiful pictures you are taking? I am shopping for a camera that would be able to take photos like that.

    Thank you.

  11. Nicole says:

Your make-up tutorial is fab! You are so beautiful.. i am definatly using this look for my hot valentine date!

    • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Nicole: Oh thank you! Hopefully it gets the results you’re looking for. :)
Maria: I usually use an old Olympus MJU point and shoot as I have a remote control for that, but I took these two shots with the new Sony A550 DSLR. I think it is more about how you use the camera than how fancy it is really.

  12. Jaede says:

That soft look is perfect on you, I love the colours, but on me I look like a rabbit. White hair and skin with any pinks = bunny…..hehe…….

  13. singapore gal ! says:

    Hi,:)
I really love the soft and romantic look of yours!!! PRETTY!:) especailly the PINK kissable lips!

and btw, could you give me a clearer description of the MISSHA eyeliner and the lipgloss? It looks awesome on u and I would love 2 get one too!

    love,
    xy

    • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Singapore gal: The lip gloss is by Bourjois, 3D effects cosmic in red. The Missha liner is their liquid liner in black. They only have only liquid liner here, but unfortunetly all the details have rubbed off my tube! Remington of London also do a great, inexpensive brush tip liquid liner, not a solid brush tip mind you, but one with individual hairs I find is best, like a proper paint brush. So glad you like and there are more fun ones on the way. :)

  14. Kim Gerald says:

Hey! Happy Valentines Day everyone… Wish you all to have a very sweet moment with your loved ones.

  15. Ashley says:

I love the tips you give on here. BUT since I have a darker skin tone I buy my cosmetics a few shades darker for my night look and maybe one shade lighter for my daytime. It took a lot of practice for me. But I eventually found the right products for me. I use a lot of shades of blue eye shadow because I have brown eyes and so It makes my eyes pop. Thanks for all the tips and i look forward to reading more from you!!
