This weekend was a friend’s  birthday and in keeping with our various dramatic passions, he decided upon having a 1950’s Australian suburban picnic theme! So we packed the basket, frocked up and headed out for cake, caviar and champagne! Given, they weren’t really vintage style refreshments, but I think I needed caviar more than deviled eggs that day!

Love the dress and apron combo and those photo’s look perfectly vintage (well except that they are colour).

Picnics are so nice in summer :)

  3. I agree, completely adorable! I love when you do cute-housewife 50s looks (as opposed to glamorous vixen, which is fabulous too), I’m sure you made everyone you passed smile!

I love your look. That dress is simply gorgeous. Can I be really rude and ask how much you paid for it? x

    • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Emma: Sure – I don’t mind. I found the dress for $65, which was an excellent price for vintage in such exceptional condition.

Oh… you should have been at Coolart Jazz Fest; we had a whole marqee of fifties’ fabulous, complete with swing dancing!

  10. Andrea says:

;-) Except for the missing green grass you look quite Bavarian/Austrian in those pictures – Sound of Music springs to mind.

Great outfit, all you need is a tartan picnic rug!

    • Super Kawaii Mama says:

Floraposte: Yeah, can you believe we forgot the rug?! Luckily, the ants were absent that evening.
Andrea: Actually I have been thinking about making a dress from curtains this week…I see a theme devloping here. ;)
Ellie: That sounds lovely. It was a huge family day for me, topped off b the evening picnic, but next time?
