That’s right…. Super Kawaii Mama otherwise known as Candice DeVille, will be on your TV screens this Friday 11th December. Well if you are in Australia that is.
The Collectors on ABC 1 is having their final show for the year and getting into the mood for Summer. You’ll hear Nicole Jenkins from Circa Vintage Clothing talking all about her collection of vintage swimwear from the 1930′s – 1970′s, as well as getting to see the whole collection modeled by me! I can tell you there are some pretty swanky swimsuits in this collection and you’ll not want to miss it! So tune in this Friday night at 8pm on ABC 1. For those of you not lucky enough to be in Australia at the moment, I will have links to the show for you so that you can see it too.
So turn on and tune in for some serious vintage eye candy!
Well the results are in. Thanks to everyone who voted for their choice of the winner of the Perfect Vintage Christmas Prize pack. As I said, you had a 24 hour window, so I have tallied the votes that have come in time stamped within that 24 hours and……
Violet, I’ll be contacting you with all the details on how to claim your prize.
However, I loved the poem by Smelling Skunk so much, that I have been wracking my brains to come up with a consolation prize. So Ms Skunk, I’ll also be in contact with your to get your details and send a special something your way too.
It has been a great competition and thank you all for your entries.
Don’t go away though as the next contest, shortly to be announced, will have you singing from the roof tops! And yes, the next one will be super easy to enter with no projects required.
Seriously, this blog is so awesome you’ll need to tell everyone you know about it! Tee hee hee..
It isn’t often that I get to spend the day with some of the loveliest vintage ladies out there, but I had just that opportunity when the Lindy Charm School for Girls came to town again. This weekend was a whirlwind of rollers, corsets, tulle, photos, shopping and cocktails… pretty divine really.
Saturday was workshop day, with ladies coming in from all across the state to learn more about how to style their hair in the perfect vintage do, how to take inches off their waists in seconds and how to create the perfect eyelashes to bat. It is always such a pleasure to attend these afternoons and meet so many like minded gals as well as readers I haven’t met before. But the highlight of the weekend for me was getting to spend the evening in the company of all these lovely lasses, cocktails in hand, and enjoy some time at Polly Bar in Melbourne.
We know how to socialise with style!
Myself with Mistress Chrissy and Mistress Kim
Lovely readers and vintage aficionados (from left to right) Lisa, Donna and Kesenya.
The Mistresses with the charming Simon Caterson, author of the new book Hoax Nation.
Mistress Chrissy in her rightful place
So after an evening of these shenanigans, we spent the whole next day vintage shopping, trying on dresses, dinning on Italian food, jumble saleing and enjoying a few lemon lime and bitters at the bar.
There are times in life that you get more than you bargained for, and my Perfect Vintage Christmas has been one of those moments. When I organised this challenge for you, I thought it would be a great way to get you all into the holiday mood with the chance to meet some great vintage sellers and have the chance to win a beautiful prize. I hadn’t expected to get such a great gift myself.
Going through all the entries to this contest (and there have been a lot), has really touched me. All of the thought, effort and love you put into your Christmas preparations is evident; yet most of all it seems that you, my delightful readers, have captured the spirit of Christmas. The simplicity, joy and love that the season is all about. In fact you all left me a bit misty eyed and feeling warm and fuzzy, so going through these entries to choose a winner is a bitter sweet task.
Although there can only be one winner, I’m going to post the links to some of these great entries for you to share and enjoy their blogs too, by way of thank you and in the spirit of sharing.
Here are some of the great entries:
Gen Kitten’s delightful Polyvore set includes the perfect dress for Christmas in Australia.
Ashleah’s romantic Polyvore set. I just love the little dolly!
Emma Aime talks about her Perfect Vintage Christmas and gives some good ideas on how to achieve yours.
Heather give us her entry via Polyvore and even remembers the Christmas apron!
Weenatron reminds us of the importance of lipstick under the mistletoe.
Tiddleywink ( a Verbivore – gotta love that!) reminisces about the Christmases of her childhood.
Andi B Goode shows me things I never knew I could need, but now know to be vintage Christmas essentials. A vintage colour wheel!
Jennifer’s post took me on a romantic journey that had me almost smelling the pine trees. (Yes, we’ll wave a word count, it’s so lovely)
Deer Face shares some of her beautiful one of a kind artwork.
Wearing History describes a Christmas dinner I’d kill to be at and gives me a good case of jealousy over her amazing car!
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through vintage web
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.ed;
Silk stockings were hung over the heater with care,
In hopes that matching garter-belts soon would be there;
Blog readers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While new swimsuit visions danced in their heads;
And pappa in his nightshirt, and I in elation,
Were tucked up in bed with an evening libation,
When up from the laptop there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter—
And what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a marvellous website from the south hemisphere!
As I reached out my mouse-hand, and gave it a click,
Super Kawaii Mama appeared (obvs looking quite chic)
She was dressed all in vintage, from her head to her foot,
and her eyes looked quite fetching in cat’s-eyes-flicked soot;
A bundle of goodies she had flung on her back,
and it took all I had not to spring and attack!
A wink of her eye and a flash of her teeth
let me know she was sensing the source of my greed.
She spoke not a word, but continued her slog,
and posted her outfits, advice columns, and vlogs,
Then laying her finger aside of her nose,
and giving a nod, gave her new post an upload.
But I heard her exclaim, ere she clicked out of sight,
“Vintage Christmas to all, and to all kawaii-bytes!”
Now I need your help. Who do you think should be the winner of the amazing prize pack?
You have 24 hours to cast your vote and help me make one of these lovely ladies very very happy.
***UPDATE: Polling has how closed.**
So lend me a hand and let me know who you think should win. And while you’re in a voting mood, don’t forget to vote in the 2Threads Best Fashion Blog Awards.
