Daily Outfit – Mama Circa 1959
Today’s daily outfit was for meetings, lunch and generally gadding about in bookstores. The dress is a gorgeous early 1960’s, late 1950’s piece in a cotton waffle weave fabric. I feel in love with it the minute I saw it at the Love Vintage Show earlier this year and had to have it… even though at the time I couldn’t even get the zip done up. *cough* Perhaps I’d been to lunch too many times that week. Anyway, it hung around in the wardrobe for a while but I could only wear it when corseted down, that is until today! Yay! Cause let’s face it, corsets might look dead sexy but I tell you, trying to get down and play lego in them is hell and not advisable. Heels on the other hand (foot?) are do-able. They just need to be cute AND sturdy to work.

Dress – Vintage circa 1959
Shoes – Paragon dept. store Bangkok
Earrings – Vintage
Gorgeous Baby – Miss 2
I love my vintage and I love my things a little extra fancy, but it is critically important that I can still do everything I need to without fear of dirt, damage or puncturing a rib. And that is why I take a leaf from the book of women of the past to make it work.
The secret? An apron!

Gorgeous. Love the dress!!!
I think this is my favorite outfit that I have seen you wear! It’s simple, but so chic, and those shoes are amazing!
I love the shape of that dress, it’s so relevant even today
First: Love the outfit!
Second: Those shoes are too die for!
Third: Your daughter is adorable!
THE SHOES!!!! Incredible!
AHHH those shoes! Ever since Louis Vuitton spring 07 I’ve wanted a pair of shoes with heels like that! And awwww your daughter is sooo adorable.

how gorgeous!!!
You’re both looking rather spectacular! Those shoes are quite seriously to die for. <3
love your hair here, and the button detail!
Another lovely outfit of the day x
Your hair is absolutely wonderful. Every aspect of this outfit is perfect! So simple, elegant and precise. I can’t stop oooing and aahing over these photographs!
Please forgive my gushing; I get a little overexcited when I see things I love as much as this. Thank you for both the constant inspiration and the apron tip!
That dress is great! I am all about wash-and-wear pieces where you don’t need to worry too much about a bit of dirt or grime… Or cat fur.
And those shoes are GREAT! I don’t generally like heels, but those look comfortable to wear all day.
Cheers!

Those shoes!! Holy hell I need to get to HK asap. Damn!! Nice ;-D
Oh btw I did a quick sketch of you last night which is now on my blog. Just a quick one so sorry its not perfect! I was thinking about doing an entry for your Xmas comp but I doubt I will make it in time!
Divine hair and makeup…and shoes!
Oh my… gorgeous gorgeus dress! It complements your fair skin really really well
Fantastic dress and amazing shoes too!
You are so inspirational.
So simple yet gorgeous! Your daughter is a cutie, too! I have a friend who teases me about my obsession with navy, but sometimes it’s just so perfect.
Hear MumRoar: Thank you! I do love the simplicity of Navy but still have trouble wearing it as it was my school colour.
LOL )
Shannon: Oh you say the sweetest things ^-^
Ikah: Thank you.
Esz: If only I could take orders and bring lots back for you all! And thank you for the sketch – that is way cool! And yes PLEASE do a Christmas comp entry, I LOVE your work! (Besides which I’m sure a great picture of an SKM Christmas would go a long way to ‘garnering favour’
Those shoes are unbearably cool.
You are stunning! And can you please do a hair tutorial? I love it!
Another perfect outfit and your daughter is adorable.
I love a splash of colour and texture and something different but there are definitely times for a little bit of pared back elegance and you are definitely rocking that here (Ms 2 on the other hand is rocking colour, frills and cuteness!).
Those shoes are amazing, they look really comfy.
Floraposte: When you’re 2 you can get away with those ‘ra ra’ skirts. Wish I still had the legs for those!

Jaede: I often wish I could show you all just how cute they are and fill the blog with their little blue eyed faces….
Emma: Thank you! This hair is a bit of a cheat so I’ll have to think about if I want to give away the secret
Sally: Aren’t they just!
Do you have a tutorial to do that hair? It is divine!
Hi…cool outfit and site!
I’d like to ask your permission to use the vintage picture of the child sleeping you posted on May 6, 2009…
I’d like to use it for a piece of artwork…it will not be sold, it is only for my personal enjoyment and the completed piece will be posted on my blog (http://promptlyinspired.blogspot.com/).
If you do grant me use of it, I would give you credit, of course and be thoroughly grateful (it’s the picture picture for what I’m envisioning).
Thanks,
ellie
Ellie: I can’t find any picture of a sleeping child at that date. Can you give me the URL? It may not be my image to give you permission for, so I’ll need to check that for you.
Thanks so much for checking into it….here’s the URL: http://www.superkawaiimama.com.au/2009/07/05/dear-weekend-5-06-09/
Ellie: Ah, that is an old vintage postcard, so I have no idea who the image actually belongs to. I suppose it shouldn’t be a problem to use as you intend to. Looking forward to seeing the finished artwork .:)
Thanks so very much….I’ll let you know once I’ve completed the work and posted it so that you can see it!
SKM ! You put a smile on my face ! Here´s to innovative and creative babes like you !
Thank you again for allowing me to use your wonderful vintage postcard image! Here is a little Christmas tag I did in response to an art challenge from another site. Your image was just perfect for what I wanted to create!

thanks again and Merry Christmas to you!!!

Aprons sure are the best. That’s why I’m making them for friends this Christmas.
Miss 2 is sleepy? So cute.

Gorgeous outfit, I love this look on you!
You look gorgeous in that dress. And the make-up goes really well with the look you are trying to achieve. I love the last bit about the apron. Definitely right on!

That dress is gorgeous, you look stunning in it. I just recently discovered your blog and I really love it. I’ll certainly be back.
By the way, about being able to do the things you want and need to do while wearing dresses like those: Ofcourse aprons are a great solution. But I also try to maintain the attitude that I just want to wear my beautiful clothing whenever I want to. And if it gets dirty, well, then so be it. At least I would have enjoyed the clothing. In the closet the garments wouldn’t have been of that much value to me anyway.
LOVE your hair like that! It looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
You should defintely rock that style more
<3 xxx
Hair tutorial pretty please
those shoes are seriously to die for!
Love the shoes!!!
