It is suddenly hot here. Scorching, pre summer sizzling days that come on with a vengeance. I’ve spent the past few days in doors writing, tidying and finding lots of excuses not to go out until evening rolls around. Last night I headed into Longrain Melbourne for dinner with my family, (oh the salt and pepper tofu!) but had a pre-dinner snack that always spells the beginning of summer for me. Oysters!
I love those lazy summer afternoons with plates and plates of natural oysters and a few bottles of wine, so in honor of the heat we cracked open the first dozen oysters of the season. The other reason I so love this food is that is no challenge for my (limited) cooking skills! Just shuck, wash and yum…!

Yumm….

You look adorable and those oysters look delicious!
I have a question though! How do you get your hair to keep its body and curl on a hot day? I’m suffering from limp and horrible hair this week while we brave the heatwave and it’s a fair old downer…
Oh I LOVE oysters – how delicious I want some now!!
That dress is divine!
I can’t say that I’m a fan of the oysters (I’m a veggie) but I ADORE that dress! It is cute and sunny, and it looks like it would help keep you cool.
If you need cooler weather, you’re more than welcome to come and visit me in Canada… Our average for the next few days is 5C degrees.
Cheers!
~Paige
Paige: Sure…. just looking for cheap airfaires now.. do you have a spare room? LOL ^-^
Your hair looks amazing? How have you styled it?
Jay & Jess W: I have a hair trick for hot humid days, which I learnt spending time in Asia. I use a clip in piece! I style my own hair at the front and use a synthetic piece (so it doesn’t loose curl or body and frizz) to create the rest of the loose waves. It is exactly the same colour and texture as my regular hair, just doesn’t react to the heat the same way. I’m creating a tutorial to show how I’ve done this look, and hopefully will have something in the next week or two.
DROOOOL.
And so healthy too!!
The minute I read “Longrain” my mouth started watering! That is one of my top Melbourne restaurants! Fantastic ensemble!
Sally, Jaede & HMR: Thank you..more Oysters for me then!
Hexotica: Right, so I’ll add you to my dinner guest list next time I plan an outing there. The food is so amazing.. the tapioca pudding had me fighting off the others with my spoon!
Love the hair, love the dress, the oysters? Not so much. lol
Love that gorgeous print!

You look amazing cool considering the heat. Adorable look.
what a pretty dress!
Not a fan of shell fish, but the dress is perfection!
Also, I second Paige’s suggestion of a visit to Canada. You won’t be too hot here!
Yeah, like Rosie I’m not a fan of Oysters at all.
I am, however, an enormous fan of your dress!
Perfection.
