Sometimes, there is a piece in your wardrobe that you love but just cannot wear. Such has been the fate of this beautiful pink angora cardigan… until today. My mother hand knitted this piece for herself some twenty eight years ago, and when it came to me I was rather thrilled. I’d grown up stroking it and loving it’s kitten-like quality. But its shape didn’t really love me. It was a tad too square shaped to really work, but I was too attached to pass it on to another. And so it has been stored, occasionally making an outing, but never really hitting the mark. On Friday, in a moment of styling serendipity, I opened up a package I had recently received from the delightful Drink Me Alice line and knew I wanted to create an outfit around that little piece. A small, silver set, vintage kitten illustration that had a sweet pink background and a little silver bow from which it hung. That was my answer! Using my kitten as the closure for my kitten sweater and wearing it cape style!

I love your eyeliner! the cardigan is pretty spiffy too.
Adorable outfit, yet again. I love the twirl of the skirt, and the hair looks beautiful today as well.

The outfit is darling but what I really love is your makeup!
Thanks doll,

I’m in love with capes at the moment and I love all things cat related.
I can’t really tell from the photos, but if you have had the cardigan for a while but never seem to wear it maybe its time to remove the arms and make it a cape, if they are sewn on they would be simple enough to remove and then just join the arm wholes up.
Weedyseadragon: I couldn’t bring myself to alter it. Firstly I don’t have the skills with yarn, but also the sentimental value. It may not work for me, but I’d like to give it to my girls one day and it might be perfect for them.
Oh perfect, so glad you found a way to wear it!
Ah it’s perfect! love the colour of that cardi – and how sweet that it also has that sentimental value
You new hair is looking fab too !
A fabulous idea indeed! I’ve done that with jackets, but hadn’t thought about it with a cardigan.
p.s. Are those eyelashes for real? If not, how do you get fake ones to work so well?
40′s femme: They are corner lashes from a range called 1000 hour and can be bought at Priceline for about $7. They are easier to apply than a full strip too.
How inventive!! it’s excellent you could finally style such a lovely piece. it’s wonderful
That brooch is JUST ADORABLE!
