Here at Super Kawaii Mama, what you see and what you read is all me, all day, every day. I am not a fictitious persona, nor am I here to lead you up the garden path. My mission is to show you how it is possible to live your most glamorous life whether you are an A List actress or a stay at home mum. That your life / work / financial choices do not negate the ability to be glamorous. When I began this blog back in February 2008, I thought to myself, “Oh this blogging lark is a doddle. I can knock one of these out in a mere 30 minutes a day!” This may have been true to begin with, but as I found more and more reading what I had to say and the potential to really make a difference, this blog began to slowly but surely, take over my life.
I don’t believe it is possible for a woman to “do it all”, that is unless she is able to exist on an hour of sleep per day and still maintain her sunny self. The words, “Pigs!” and many other choice phrases spring to mind here. So while what you have seen up until this point has been the result of many many hours work, juggling family and working; there comes a point that having to buy new underwear because your family has nothing clean left, is just ridiculous. I’ve always believed in giving 100% to anything you set out to achieve. To do things well and not limp along in a fashion that only just keeps you from drowning. So when this blog and all its related work geared up to become a full time job, I knew it was time to call in the troops.
You may recall I mentioned a little while back that I had an assistant starting to give me a hand. Having someone else around to help me manage my work load has meant an entirely new approach to what I do. Instead of feeling guilty that I just couldn’t get to everything, we can now divide up the work around here and everyone is happy. Why am I telling you all this? Well I don’t want you to go thinking that I’ve gone all Lady of Leisure on you, sitting around eating bon bons and having my nails done all day. I still do the laundry, clean the bathrooms and keep body and soul together; it is just a team effort now. Paradoxically, now that I have some help, I am working harder than ever. It pushes me to achieve and allows me to be both a Mother and a working gal all at the same time, without anyone falling through the cracks.
What I am saying is, I’m still the Sheriff, but there is a new Deputy in town.
*EDIT: Just to clear up any confusion, it will still be all me on the blog 100% of the time. The assistant I speak of will be helping with running the rest of my life around here!*

Yay its great you’re getting a bit of help with the blog SKM
And even better I think that you need help! Just proves how successful the whole thing has become
But it will still be you writing all the articles?
Rebecca: Sorry I don’t mean there will be anyone else writing or involved in these pages, but someone around to help me balance the duties of a mother, wife and everything else.
Eszter: My helper will be assisting with lots of things, but not on the blog. Just helping me free up the time I need to make this something special.
I’m so jealous. I’d like to have an assistant aswell!
(I’d really need one to sort out my paper things, I suck at that…)
You know what? Good on you SKM! If I was old enough I would be delighted to your assistant.
XXASAB
Gosh an assistant! Now that is dedication t the cause SKM, bravo
Lucky girl, your assistant. Does she love vintage fashion, too?
I’m thinking, “SKM’s assistant, dream job!” Ha ha ha! I’m sure she’s doing laundry and errands, but oh, just to bask in your glow!
Thanks for being upfront and letting us all in on how you’re making it work!
The fact that you have mentioned an assistant a few times gives me the impression you are feeling a bit guilty?
Mary: I think to a degree you are right. There is an expectation that we should “do it all” and when we can’t, sometimes we do feel a bit guilty. However, the main reason I mention her existence, is that I don’t want to perpetuate a myth that I am indeed “doing it all” by myself.
TikiMama: You sure know how to make me laugh! I’m sure there are fun parts, but like any job, it is still work.
Meream: Not yet, but you never know what working with me for a while may do!
I can confirm its not all relaxing and champagne around Chatteau SKM as I think any long term reader of the blog would know… there is LOTS going on in the life of SKM, and I for one am enjoying the journey no end…..
Great idea SKM to mention the people that help us to keep all the balls in the air as we juggle motherhood and careers – oh, and being gorgeous works of art to boot!
(Here I’m offering prayers of thanks to all the babysitters, cleaners, friends, and various paid and unpaid helpers that contribute my life as a working mum who can follow her dreams. Having said that, I am still tired most of time, and paid particularly close attention to the makeup tutorial on covering dark circles!)
Rochelle: Angels.. they sure are! And yes, the dark cirlces are a dead give away. I’m also now using the lightest MAC concealer in conjunction with the Benefit one, on the days I REALLY need extra help!
True, no lies is my motto, although I keep 20% private and unknown, blogging is also thermoplastic for me. I would have never known you were a mum and I think no matter which path a women takes, we don’t have to compromise ourselves or our goals and that means even trying to look our best… = ) This is why I luv you and your blog = ) in a Sisterly way.
Girl Japan: Yes, there is always a line between being honest and too much information. Blogging has been the most wonderful thing for me. A way to always stay connected to my creative side and to hook up with other like minded individuals like your lovely self!
