For some time now I have been looking for a nameplate necklace. I’m not talking Carrie Bradshaw imitations here, but something that was embedded with my personality, fun and bright, and perfect for the double take. Of course I found the object of my desire on Etsy, that beacon of creativity and independent trade. After a few emails back and forwards with the artistic lass who created my piece, we had struck on just the right thing for me.

In case you’re wondering, the irony of the Ed Hardy popularity of such designs is not lost on me. However, I refuse to boycott what I love, just because some marketing genius has ruined a perfectly good art form by making it trendy.

Wonderful! you must be so pleased!
The art work is stunning
What is it made from?
Rebecca: It is made from some type of plastic resin. She draws all the artwork by hand and then sets it in this stuff. I do love it.
That’s fantastic. And who cares about Ed Hardy! Wear what you want.
Oh man, that’s so fun and cheerful. And big!
Suits you really well.
Ah ha! So I was very close to the mark when I said that it looked like a tattoo in your previous post.
It’s very you SKM. Really nice.
It’s goooorgeous! I will check out the shop as soon as Etsy is back!
So fun! I’ve been eying earrings in a similar style lately (just to mix up my usual “sweet and pretty” stash of accessories): http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21318344
I rather love the tattoo graphics, even if they are getting over-commercialized lately. :p
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and timeless! How wonderful!
so lovely!
What a wonderful piece! The only problem I have with this trend is the ridiculous prices people are charging for them (when the designs are no more impressive than any others, I have a hard time spending $100 on a shirt!) This is the way to do things!
Love it! And I’m surprised because that whole genre of style is kind of lost on me. But it’s so colorful and bright, and even though I only “know” you through your blog, it does fit the very essence of you to a T!
These necklaces are freaking FANTASTIC!!!
It really is so cool, spent a half hour browsing there shop and may have to get something too….
I am very glad to know where to get something like that. (and checked the shop rightaway: so much choice… )
Despite the whole Ed Hardy (ufff, I never thought I’d had to write that name…) this is way more classy. And it does not have a bling-bling or glitz-efect on it!
As I complemented on an earlier comment: it is a very, very unique and nice necklace.
Thanks everyone. I knew it would be a popular piece and I’m sure the artist will appreciate the extra custom.
I was very impressed by the quality and the speed with which she worked too. There is nothing quite like a great piece of jewellery to help you get your happy on in the morning.
Stunning! I actually ordered a necklace similar to this one that said “Debutante” from Etsy a couple years ago but unfortunately the designer was a nut job and never made it for me. I had to fight to get a refund. Bad experience.
Rockn’ neck plate, can’t wait to see how you work it into you day-to-day.
whilst I do love wearing jewellery I always get a headache wearing heavy or large necklaces. But I love your design!
this is in no way kawaii, so its kind of stupid.
Me: Never said that the necklace itself WAS kawaii – just that it was a really cool thing for a reader to make.
